The concert leads us through the Alps, lets the audience pass flowering meadows en route, through thickets and underbrush, over mountain pastures and glaciers to the summit, and finally the descent surrounded by thunderstorms. Messner provides insights into the physical and psychological borderline experiences of his mountain ascents and speaks about extreme situations, the perception of nature, and his mental state on the night before departure, during the conquest of the peak, during the long, onerous descent and the exhausted, contented return home. Bach's Cello Suites Nos. 4 and 5 amid natural surroundings devastated by climate change. Beauty confronts its own destruction. Do we really want to watch without lifting a finger? Melting glaciers, desertified landscapes, flooded communities: climate change is having an alarming impact even in Europe. What are we humans doing to this wonderful planet? Aghast at the depredation and destruction of our unique ecosystems, the renowned German cellist Tanja Tetzlaff wants to ask Nature for forgiveness. She travels with her instrument to places in Europe where climate change has already become reality and visibly dealt severe wounds. Surrounded by sometimes bizarre scenery, she performs Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello Suites Nos. 4 and 5, contrasting them with works specially composed for her by Thorsten Encke. She levels accusations, stokes resistance, and touches us with her virtuoso playing. The beauty of the music stands in sharp contrast to the often-dramatic images of damaged Nature, combatting the finality of destruction. A moving musical and visual plea for greater care and humility toward the beauty of our planet - at once ravishing and disturbing. Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau: Last Words The great German baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau was greatly admired for his interpretive insight, note-perfect control of the tonal qualities, and shadings of color in his voice, for exceptional rhythmic sense and impeccable diction. His reputation as a lieder singer is so high - he had a repertoire of more than 3.000 songs - that it is easy to forget his extensive list of operatic roles. In this conversation Fischer-Dieskau reveals for the last time on camera the secrets of his outstanding career. His 'Last Words' provide a deep insight into the extraordinary artistic life of one of the most famous and prolific lieder singers of our time. The life I love - The pianist Menahem Pressler The music world has known Menahem Pressler for more than half a century and mainly for his work with the famous Beaux Arts Trio. He was the heart of this ensemble and when in 2008 the trio decided to separate, it was not the end for Menahem Pressler's career - in fact it was the start of a most remarkable and successful path as a soloist and in 2013, the 90-year-old grand seigneur of the piano gave his long overdue debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker. In 'The life I love - the pianist Menahem Pressler', from talks with Pressler over excerpts from one of his Master Classes, to interviews with artists like Daniel Harding, Quatuor Ébene, Leonidas Kavakos or Daniel Hope, we will gain deep insights into the life of this enchantingly 'venerable prodigy'. Historia telewizji Mezzo
Telewizja Mezzo została założona w 1992 roku przez francuską publiczną grupę mediową France Télévisions. Do roku 1998 nosiła nazwę France Supervision. W 2001 roku Mezzo połączyła się z francuskim kanałem muzycznym Muzzik, zachowując swoją nazwę. Logo stacji składa się z czerwonego napisu „mezzo” ze stylizowaną literą „m”. Siostrzaną stacją telewizji Mezzo jest Mezzo Live HD – kanał nadawany od kwietnia 2010 roku.
Oficjalna siedziba stacji znajduje się w Paryżu we Francji. Obecnym właścicielem jest francuska telewizja publiczna oraz francuska spółka mediowa Grupa Canal+. Aktualnie stacja dociera aż do blisko 60 milionowej widowni i jest dostępna w ponad 80 krajach na całym świecie – w tym w krajach Skandynawskich, w Portugalii, Rosji czy w Polsce.
Od samego początku telewizja Mezzo poświęcona była promocji muzyki klasycznej, jazzu i tańca wśród szerszej widowni. Zamysłem było dotarcie nie tylko do zaprawionych melomanów, ale także osób rozpoczynających przygodę z muzyką poważną. Oferta kanału składa się z programów w różnym formacie. Repertuar obejmuje różne gatunki i formy sztuki klasycznej – m.in. operę, balet, koncerty symfoniczne, jazzowe czy recitalie. Krótko- i pełnometrażowe występy nadawane są w blokach.
