Chucho Valdés Bayfront Jazz Festival 2021 Miami, 2021 Directed by Amos Rozenberg The 2021 inaugural edition of the Bayfront Jazz Festival takes place in Miami's Bayfront Park. The festival's mission is to honor and celebrate the current and future giants of Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Latin and electronic music. This year's unique line-up includes Roy Ayers, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chucho Valdés, Gonzalo Rubalcaba & Aymée Nuviola and Mark Guiliana's Beat Music. Winner of six Grammy and three Latin Grammy Awards, the Cuban pianist, composer and arranger Chucho Valdés is the most influential figure in modern Afro-Cuban Jazz. In a rich career spanning sixty years, Chucho has pushed boundaries in pursuit of new expressions in Afro-Cuban music. His influence in the genre is immeasurable, his work establishing the standard by which younger generations set our to create their own.

Segovia at Los Olivos Directed by Christopher Nupen In fact, in Western classical music, the achievement of Andrés Segovia is unique. As a boy in Granada, he was captivated by the variety of tone colours and the wealth of harmonic possibilities of the Spanish guitar and he saw a future for it that nobody had previously even dreamed of. On those seemingly slender beginnings he set out on a remarkable quest. Using the work done by Fernando Sor and Francisco Tarrega in the nineteenth century and adding the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach, he began to build not only a career for himself, but to lay the foundations of modern guitar technique and the present-day international popularity of the Spanish guitar as a serious musical instrument. Within twenty years, Andrés Segovia had taught himself the instrument, revolutionised the technique and won acceptance for it on the concert platforms of Europe. He spent the next fifty years giving concerts in almost every part of the world and was at various times a resident of the United States, Switzerland and Argentina. At the age of 75, he returned to his native Andalusia with his young wife, Emilita, and built a new home, Los Olivos, on the Costa del Sol as close as he could to Granada. This film is made in the relaxed atmosphere of his new home and in Jaen and Granada where he spent his formative years. The idea is very simple: to give a great man an opportunity of looking back on sixty years of concert life and one of the most unusual contributions to Western music made by any performing musician in the last hundred years. Segovia talks in his inimitable poetic way about what he has tried to do, and plays some of the music most closely associated with him and his extraordinary career.

Being a female conductor means being an exception. Even today. When a woman stands on the podium she is, in most cases, somehow 'the first': the first to lead a world-class orchestra, the first to conduct the 'Last Night of the Proms' in London, the first to win the German Conductor Prize. But it seems that the world of the maestro is now in a state of upheaval. The young Lithuanian conductor Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla, who took over the post of Andris Nelsons in Birmingham, said with conviction: 'I really believe that something is changing now.' But why is it that there have been so few female conductors in the international music scene? To take a closer look at this phenomenon, the film MAESTRAS follows several female conductors at Lucerne Festival 2016, which with the motto 'PrimaDonna' dedicated itself to this theme. Through the rehearsals, concerts and talks with participants of various professions at the Lucerne Festival the film approaches this subject. Along with the female musicians of the festival, the life of the former conductor Sylvia Caduff is followed. The Swiss woman was the first female assistant to Leonard Bernstein and directed the Berlin Philharmonic in 1978 when she filled in for Herbert von Karajan.

Mezzo to francuska stacja telewizyjna skupiająca się na światowej muzyce klasycznej, jazzie i tańcu. Promowana hasłem „Muzyka dla Twoich oczu”, łączy w sobie wrażenia płynące z doskonałego brzmienia i oglądanych występów. Mezzo przenosi widzów do najbardziej prestiżowych sal koncertowych, na deski scen operowych i baletowych oraz w świat znakomitych festiwali muzycznych. W ramówce kanału znajdują się zarówno krótkie klipy, jak i pełnometrażowe przedstawienia prezentujące twórczość legendarnych artystów i nowo odkrytych talentów. Pasmo uzupełniane jest muzycznymi programami i filmami dokumentalnymi. Telewizja Mezzo nadaje swój program przez całą dobę, siedem dni w tygodniu.
Historia telewizji Mezzo
Telewizja Mezzo została założona w 1992 roku przez francuską publiczną grupę mediową France Télévisions. Do roku 1998 nosiła nazwę France Supervision. W 2001 roku Mezzo połączyła się z francuskim kanałem muzycznym Muzzik, zachowując swoją nazwę. Logo stacji składa się z czerwonego napisu „mezzo” ze stylizowaną literą „m”. Siostrzaną stacją telewizji Mezzo jest Mezzo Live HD – kanał nadawany od kwietnia 2010 roku.
Oficjalna siedziba stacji znajduje się w Paryżu we Francji. Obecnym właścicielem jest francuska telewizja publiczna oraz francuska spółka mediowa Grupa Canal+. Aktualnie stacja dociera aż do blisko 60 milionowej widowni i jest dostępna w ponad 80 krajach na całym świecie – w tym w krajach Skandynawskich, w Portugalii, Rosji czy w Polsce.
Od samego początku telewizja Mezzo poświęcona była promocji muzyki klasycznej, jazzu i tańca wśród szerszej widowni. Zamysłem było dotarcie nie tylko do zaprawionych melomanów, ale także osób rozpoczynających przygodę z muzyką poważną. Oferta kanału składa się z programów w różnym formacie. Repertuar obejmuje różne gatunki i formy sztuki klasycznej – m.in. operę, balet, koncerty symfoniczne, jazzowe czy recitalie. Krótko- i pełnometrażowe występy nadawane są w blokach. Przeplatane są programem muzycznym „ InterMezzo ”.
